St. Louis School is committed to helping each student find success in all areas of their academic career. In order to measure how each student is progressing academically and spiritually, we administer standardized testing throughout the year.

Types of Assessment Offered at St. Louis School

ACRE

The Assessment of Children/Youth Religious Education (ACRE) test is administered to all 5th and 8th grade students in Catholic schools across the Archdiocese of Baltimore. This test measures faith knowledge questions related to religious beliefs, attitudes, practices, and perceptions. St. Louis' 2023 student scores exceeded both the national and Archdiocesan scores in all categories by as much as 20%. We congratulate our teachers and students on this worthy accomplishment.

MAP Growth Assessment

At the beginning of every school year, St. Louis School administers a standardized test called MAP Growth. It measures achievement and growth in 1st through 8th grade in math, reading, language, and science. The test results help our teachers create instructional strategies for their curriculum for the coming year.

At St. Louis School, we see standardized tests as one piece of information about a child’s comprehensive academic achievement. A picture of true school success requires diverse data to measure academic growth.

HSPT

2023 High School Placement Test Results

We are pleased to report that the St. Louis School 8th grade class of 2023 performed outstandingly well on the High School Placement Test (HSPT), the admissions test for all Catholic high schools in the nation. Our class achieved a composite score in the 75th national percentile, one of the highest in the country.

Three 8th grade students scored in 99th percentile nationally and locally
An additional 12 students scored in the 91st percentile and above nationally and locally
One student scored in the 98 percentile in both categories.
